Why it matters

Estimate before you build

A software project priced on gut feel is a project that overruns. Here's why a structured estimate pays for itself.

Budget before you commit

Most projects overrun because scope was never priced honestly. A structured estimate exposes what each area really costs before contracts are signed.

Compare vendors on equal footing

With an independent effort and cost baseline, you can tell an underscoped lowball from a fair proposal — and negotiate from evidence.

Plan the team, not just the money

Knowing you need two backend engineers and a part-time QA changes hiring, timelines, and internal staffing decisions months in advance.

How it works

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How does the project development estimator work?

You describe the project (type and size), set a depth for eleven delivery areas — UI/UX, frontend, backend, APIs, database, mobile apps, AI integration, QA, DevOps, deployment, and maintenance — and pick a team region. The tool applies industry-typical effort bands and regional rate cards to produce a sprint plan, team composition, total effort, timeline, and cost range.

How accurate is the estimate?

It's a planning model, not a quote. The effort bands reflect typical agency delivery, and the ±15% range covers normal variation — but real pricing depends on your specific requirements, integrations, and constraints. Use it to set expectations and compare proposals, then get a scoped quote for a firm number.

What do the sprint and timeline numbers assume?

Two-week sprints with roughly 80% effective utilization per person. The timeline models overlapping phases — design leads, engineering and mobile run in parallel, QA joins mid-build, and the final sprint is reserved for hardening and launch.

How is the cost calculated?

Each discipline's hours are billed at the matching role's hourly rate for your chosen region (for example, backend hours at the backend engineer rate), plus a 12% project-management overhead. Maintenance is shown separately as a monthly retainer since it's a recurring cost, not part of the build.

Is the tool free, and do you store my inputs?

Yes, it's completely free with no sign-up, and nothing is stored — the estimate is calculated in your browser and exists only for your session.

Ready to turn the estimate into a plan?

Our solution architects scope projects for a living. Bring your estimate and we'll pressure-test it, trim what an MVP doesn't need, and send you a fixed proposal.
